Because as an artist, gaining exposure for my works is critical! As a presence on the Internet, it is also impossible for me to make sure that all of my followers see my work at the same time.
A lot of my followers don’t live in the same time zone as I do. A lot of them also follow a TON of other people, so their dashes are relatively fast moving and posts get lost or easily looked over or don’t show up at all.
By reblogging myself multiple times, that puts the post back on the follower’s dash and hopefully gives them a chance to see it.
As artists, we survive by word of mouth, especially on the Internet. Spreading the content we produce allows us to create more content for you to look at and appreciate. So while likes, as a gesture of appreciation for what we do are great, it does nothing to get our stuff out there! Which is why reblogs are important.
The general rule of thumb is: do you like something an artist does? Reblog it and share it! That way I can do less self reblogging and I get to create more original content for you and more people can enjoy it and the world keeps spinning.
HOWEVER, if seeing something reblogged 3x a day bothers you, just download xkit and block the post after you have reblogged it. That way you still have access to it but you don’t see it over and over again.
Hope that helps!
